In addition to her athletic success, Ogunlana has been recognized for her academic excellence, earning multiple AAC and Conference USA Academic honors. A graduate of Elkins High School, she was a standout both on and off the court, leading her district in kills and blocks while earning MVP and All-District honors.

About Coach Darby Harris

Darby Harris is a defensive specialist for Rice University Volleyball, where she’s made a name for herself as one of the team’s most consistent and impactful players. A standout both on and off the court, Darby has earned numerous honors — including AAC All-Academic Team, CSC Academic All-District, and multiple Conference USA academic awards — recognizing her excellence as both a student and athlete.

On the court, Darby reached a major milestone in her junior season, surpassing 1,000 career digs while helping lead the Owls through another strong year in the AAC. Known for her quick reflexes, leadership in the back row, and steady defensive presence, she’s been a key contributor since her freshman season, appearing in nearly every match of her collegiate career.

Before Rice, Darby starred at Wheaton Warrenville South High School in Illinois, where she was a four-year starter, conference Player of the Year, and program record-holder for career digs.

Darby brings that same competitive energy and attention to detail to her coaching — helping young players strengthen their defensive fundamentals, improve ball control, and build the confidence to excel in any position.
