Local Softball Players Train With Division I Athlete at Complete Player Camp
HOUSTON — Dozens of young softball players spent their Saturday learning from a Division I athlete at Lindsay/Lyons Park and Sports Complex, where Houston Christian University’s Christin Haygood led The Complete Player Camp in partnership with Top Tier Lessons.
The two-hour clinic brought together athletes ages 9–16 for focused instruction on the core areas of the game: fielding fundamentals, hitting mechanics, real-game decision-making, and the mental skills needed to grow as a player. Haygood, who competes at the Division I level and is known for her attention to detail and leadership, ran each training block with a fast pace and clear, simple breakdowns that young players could understand. During the camp, athletes also had the chance to hear directly from her about college softball, recruiting, and what it takes to succeed on and off the field. Haygood shared why these events matter to her, saying:
“Getting to pour into the next generation the same way others once poured into me is a full-circle feeling. If even one kid walks away believing in themselves a little more, then this camp was a success.”
Families described the session as a valuable chance for their kids to learn from someone currently competing at the collegiate level, while gaining insight into the dedication and mindset required to take the next step in the sport. The Complete Player Camp is part of a growing series of athlete-led clinics hosted through Top Tier Lessons, offering young athletes access to high-quality coaching while creating meaningful NIL opportunities for college players like Haygood.
