Holiday Technical Camp with Claire Jones
RIDGEFIELD, WA — Soccer players of all ages gathered at Ridgefield High School for a Holiday Technical Camp led by Claire Jones, a Division I defender from Southern Methodist University and a recent commit of the University of Pittsburgh, for a weekend of high-level training focused on technical growth, tactical understanding, and confidence on the ball.
The camp welcomed multiple age groups across two days, offering age-appropriate sessions designed to meet players where they are in their development. Each session emphasized technical fundamentals, decision-making, and game IQ, with drills structured to translate seamlessly from youth and club play to higher levels of competition.
Jones, a product of elite club environments and NCAA Division I soccer, led the sessions with a balance of intensity and approachability. Players worked through ball mastery, positional concepts, and game-like scenarios that encouraged quick thinking and clean execution, all while competing in a positive, high-energy environment.
For older athletes, the camp also served as an introduction to the standards and habits required at the college level. For Jones, the event carried special meaning as a return to her roots. “I feel so blessed and fortunate to come back home and teach skills and lessons that I first developed on this very field,” Jones said. “Soccer is a sport about life and I feel very lucky to be in a position where I can share it to the next generation of players.”
