TEXAS — Softball athletes got to work on January 3 at the 96 Texas Facility for a Softball Hitting Camp led by Cameron Cooper, a standout utility player for the University of Texas at Arlington, presented in partnership with Texas 96 Softball.
Designed as a high-energy, skill-focused training experience, the camp welcomed athletes across two age groups for focused, game-ready instruction. The session brought together hitters of varying experience levels, with drills tailored to meet athletes where they are in their development while challenging them to grow. Players worked through stations emphasizing swing mechanics, timing, pitch recognition, power development, and approach at the plate, with instruction structured to translate directly to in-game performance.
Cooper led the camp with an engaging and approachable coaching style, balancing detailed technical instruction with encouragement and energy. Drawing from her experience competing at the Division I level and in high-level travel ball, she emphasized confidence, consistency, and preparation, helping athletes understand how strong fundamentals lead to success under pressure.
Working with Team 96 was an incredible experience. Even with a large group, the athletes stayed engaged and we were able to get a lot of quality work in,” Cooper shared. “Being able to give back to the community was especially meaningful, and it’s inspiring to see the program under Jill Barranco’s leadership as she continues to build strong, confident young women.

Throughout the camp, athletes rotated through fast-paced drills and competitive hitting progressions, ensuring constant reps and individualized feedback. Cooper worked closely with players to reinforce proper mechanics while also helping them develop a confident, aggressive mindset at the plate.
Families and athletes praised the camp for its positive environment, high level of instruction, and the opportunity to train directly with a Division I athlete in a setting that was both challenging and supportive. The Softball Hitting Camp with Cameron Cooper is part of a growing series of athlete-led training experiences that connect youth players with collegiate athletes while providing meaningful NIL opportunities and community impact.
