Gainesville, GA— Youth swimmers gathered poolside on December 22 and December 29 for a Winter Swim Clinic Series led by Madison Dampier, a Division I swimmer at the University of Cincinnati and proud Lanier Aquatics alum, for two focused sessions designed to elevate race-day performance and technical confidence.

The two-day series was structured to address key areas of competitive swimming. Day 1 centered on starts and turns, where athletes worked through explosive takeoffs, streamlined underwater phases, and efficient turns—skills that directly impact race outcomes at every level. Day 2 shifted focus to butterfly technique, with swimmers breaking down body position, timing, rhythm, breathing, and efficiency through age-appropriate drills designed to improve control and consistency.

Dampier led each session with a hands-on, encouraging coaching style, drawing from her experience competing at the Division I level and developing within one of the region’s top club programs. Emphasizing fundamentals, repetition, and race transfer, she helped swimmers understand how proper technique builds speed, endurance, and confidence in competition.

Being able to work with these kids not only taught them what being a collegiate athlete means but also gave me the opportunity to give back to my community and make them better swimmers as well,” Dampier shared.

Throughout both clinics, athletes rotated through structured drills and in-water repetitions, receiving individualized feedback to reinforce proper habits. The small-group environment allowed swimmers ages 6–14 to stay engaged while gaining meaningful instruction tailored to their stage of development.

In addition to technical training, athletes and families gained insight into Madison’s journey from a record-setting high school career to Division I competition. A multi-time state champion, Futures finalist, and three-time Blitz Northeast Georgia Swimmer of the Year, Dampier highlighted the importance of consistency, discipline, and balance—both in and out of the pool.
Families praised the Winter Swim Clinic Series for its positive atmosphere, accessible coaching, and the opportunity for young swimmers to learn directly from a current collegiate athlete. The event is part of a growing lineup of athlete-led training experiences that connect youth athletes with high-level mentorship while creating meaningful NIL opportunities and community impact.
