This past weekend, June 6 and 7, Top Tier Lessons brought four Santa Clara University men's soccer players to Kathleen MacDonald High School for a two-day development camp open to boys ages 7-14. Tyler Tipton, Jackson Ozburn, Will Wiersdorf, and Quinn Garrett - all current Broncos competing in one of the most competitive programs on the West Coast - spent three hours each morning coaching, mentoring, and connecting with young athletes in small groups designed for real, hands-on development.
A Day of Development and Competition
From the first whistle, it was clear this wasn't a typical camp. Four Santa Clara men's soccer players brought collegiate-level energy and genuine investment to every session. The small group format meant every athlete got reps, got feedback, and got face time with players who compete at the highest level of the college game.
"I love being able to give back to younger players the way older athletes gave to me growing up," said Will Wiersdorf, co-captain and two-time All-WCC selection. "These kids are excited to learn and that makes coaching them easy."
What Athletes Worked On
Day 1 focused on technical development - position-specific drills, skill stations, and collegiate-level training sequences led directly by the four Broncos. Athletes worked on finishing, goalkeeper distribution, midfield combination play, and defensive positioning, each coached by the player who lives that role at the Division I level.
Day 2 brought everything into competition. Scrimmages with live, real-time feedback from the athlete-coaches gave campers a chance to apply what they'd learned under pressure. The day wrapped with a Q&A covering recruiting, college life, mindset, and what it really takes to compete at the next level - followed by autographs and photos.
Several athletes took advantage of the Media Package, walking away with professional photos from both days. A select group also added Private Lessons to their registration, getting one-on-one time with a Bronco that went even deeper into their individual game.
Meet the Coaches
Tyler Tipton is a senior forward who led Santa Clara with five goals in 2024, including two game-winners, and opened his senior season with a goal against then-No. 4 Stanford. Before Santa Clara, he led the CCAA in goals and earned CCAA Forward of the Year and CSC Academic All-American honors at Stanislaus State.
Jackson Ozburn is a senior goalkeeper and 2025 All-WCC Second Team honoree who posted seven shutouts, a 318-consecutive-shutout-minute streak, and saved eight of ten penalty kicks during an ECNL National Championship run. He was named WCC Defensive Player of the Week three times in a single season.
Will Wiersdorf is a junior midfielder and co-captain, a two-time All-WCC Second Team selection who led the team with six goals and 48 shots in 2025 while logging 1,574 minutes of action. He's also a WCC All-Academic First Team and CSC Academic All-District honoree.
Event Highlights
The energy across both days was exactly what Top Tier camps are built for - competitive, personal, and fun. Small groups kept the pace high and the feedback constant. Athletes weren't watching from the sideline; they were in it.
Standout moments included Jackson working one-on-one with young goalkeepers on positioning and penalty kick reads, Tyler breaking down finishing mechanics in a way that had kids immediately applying it in scrimmage, and Quinn and Will running defensive shape and midfield combination drills side by side.
Athletes who added the Media Package left with a full set of professional photos capturing their best moments on the field. Those who included a Private Lesson got dedicated one-on-one time with a Bronco, walking away with personalized feedback specific to their position and goals.
