Performance Throwing and Pitching Clinics with Delaware State Athletes

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Softball pitchers gathered at the Nationals Youth Academy on January 4 and January 9 for the DC Nike RBI × Top Tier Lessons Pitching Clinic, a two-day winter training experience led by Kristin White and Bria Sewell, Division I standouts from Delaware State University.

Presented in partnership with DC Nike RBI, the clinic welcomed pitchers ages 13–18 for focused, high-level instruction designed to improve in-game performance. Each day featured structured training blocks that broke pitching down into its most important components, with Sewell leading performance throwing work and White guiding performance pitching sessions centered on consistency, command, and efficiency in the circle.
Across both dates, athletes worked through clean mechanical patterns, spin development, speed generation, and sequencing, while receiving individualized feedback tailored to their strengths and areas for growth. Live reps and competitive drills allowed pitchers to apply adjustments in real time, reinforcing habits that translate directly to game situations.

White, a sophomore right-hander for Delaware State, brought a proven collegiate approach to the circle. Coming off a standout season in which she earned All-MEAC Second Team and Academic All-MEAC honors, White emphasized precision, preparation, and mental toughness. Drawing from her experience leading the Hornets in wins, ERA, strikeouts, and innings pitched, she helped athletes understand how small adjustments can lead to big results under pressure.
“The clinic was great. It ran super smoothly and I had a great time working with the athletes!” White said.
Sewell complemented the sessions with a strong focus on athletic movement and throwing efficiency. A dynamic two-way player for Delaware State, Sewell emphasized body control, arm care, and rhythm, helping pitchers develop sustainable mechanics that support velocity and durability throughout a season.
In addition to on-field development, athletes and families gained insight into the daily demands of competing at the Division I level, from training routines and recovery to balancing academics and athletics. The clinic provided a firsthand look at what it takes to succeed in college softball, delivered in an environment that was both demanding and encouraging.
Families praised the clinic for its technical depth, individualized coaching, and the opportunity to train directly with accomplished college athletes. The DC Nike RBI × Top Tier Lessons Pitching Clinic is part of a growing series of athlete-led training experiences that create meaningful development opportunities for youth players while supporting NIL opportunities for collegiate athletes.
